Marty, in a recent article that appeared in Christian Century, doesn’t mince words regarding our present age mindset of “Guns as America’s Golden Calf.”  In America, guns have become idols … An image of God and something to be worshipped.  Please do not be surprised by our worship of guns or idols.  Religious groups practice idolatry daily.  Idolatry is the worship of something or someone in the form of a physical image other than God as if that image were God. Worshiping God as “Father,” as “He,” as male, is idolatry (plain and simple).  God is God.
